how to split tracks in audacity

In this article I am going to show you how to split tracks in Audacity. This free audio tool was one of the first tools that I used to create music online. It allows me to create new tracks and record them as well as edit them. I have always used it to mix and prepare new tracks for my productions. To begin with, let us look at how to split tracks in audacity.

The first step is to select the Track Selection Tool, by clicking on this icon you will see the selection tool and a drop down menu. Click on the Audio button and from there you will be taken to a page where you can select which track you would like to split. The first selection option is the Near Selection. If you click here, then the first track recorded will be shown as white. The next option is the Middle selection, this will show all the selected tracks in their original format, this will be shown as green.

The next step is to select the Split option, this will bring up a pop up window. Click on the Split tab, this will bring up the following options. The first option is to automatically split your selection when you mouse over it. The other two options are the copy and paste options.

The next thing we are going to look at when looking at how to split tracks in Audacity is the copy option. To do this, you click on the top menu and you will be taken to a page where you can choose to copy or type the audio. If you type, then it will be saved as a track.

After you have saved your file, you need to go back to the Split tab and click on New. On the new page, you will see the options of how many tracks you want to split into multiple files and also how to name them. Once you have done so, you will see the files that are currently open in the order they were saved.

Now, let us look at how to split audio in Audacity using the selection tool. To do this, you need to highlight each track and click on the plus sign symbol next to it. This will open the selection tool. Click and drag the selection tool to the right to create a new selection.

Next, you will want to move the selection tool to the left to create the selection. You will then move it to the right to add a new drop shadow. You want to do this in the exact same way you would do it if you were going to split a stereo track. You want to highlight the audio track you want to split, and then drag and drop it to the beginning of the selection area. Continue dragging and dropping it to split the audio.

Finally, you need to double click the play icon to open the selected audio file name. This will open the Play/pause feature in the right-click menu of the application. Click play to begin playing the audio file. If you have any effects on your tracks, use the audio editing option from the Edit menu to add them to your mix. When you are happy with your mixes, save the file to your hard drive for further editing and mixing.

The next step is to go to the track's top menu bar and click the arrow button next to the volume slider. This will display the play bar. Double click the play button to start playing the audio. The application will then display the volume slider at the same location as the play bar. If you have headphones or are listening through a speaker system, this step will not be necessary, but if your system does not have an input for monitoring levels you may want to double check this.

The last step is to click the new button at the top of the track you want to record. This button will display a play/pause icon, along with three horizontal sliders. These sliders can be set to a specific length, in seconds, minutes, hours, or even days. The amount of time recorded will also be saved in the track's top menu bar. Click the right button to start recording.
